Fashion Passion: St. Charles Fashion Week Review

I was honored to participate in St. Charles Fashion week as a vendor on 8/22/12. The theme, A Local Passion for Fashion, was truly representative of the stellar fashions on display opening night. I was fortunate to witness the parade of bright colors, feminine silhouettes, sporty and tribal prints and so much more on the runway. The boutiques in the St.Charles region truly are truly deserving of the spotlight based on the diverse and charming apparel I gleefully observed on the catwalk.

Bright-colored apparel will remain at the forefront of fashion through fall and I could not be more thrilled. Honey's Child Boutique reigned supreme as a boutique, for the curvy femme-fatale, that carries amongst its inventory apparel in vibrant colors for plus-sized women. My favorite garment was a yellow wrap-dress with lace trim on the sleeves. The v-neckline and the ribbon belt at the waistline could not have been a more perfect style of dress for curvier women. It is apparent the boutique owner understands that the curves of plus-sized women should be enhanced not hidden. Another highlight was the teal and plum color-blocked dress I spotted on a subsequent model on the runway. The designer skillfully displayed the plum shade at the shoulders and the center of the dress while the teal shade was placed at the edge of the dress. This technique enhanced the curvier parts of the body while simultaneously giving the model a sleek appearance. Other garments that entranced me include a cream dress with mini-cutouts at the top of each shoulder and an animal print dress with black panels that hugged the waistline. If you are plus-sized and in the St. Charles or St. Louis regions, run don't walk to this boutique. The boutique owner obviously has a knack for selecting apparel that will ensure its female customers are always dressed to impress.

Lillian's of St. Charles also impressed with its display of sporty-hip apparel. I, particularly, appreciated the neutral-colored sweater with a v-shaped hemline, cowl neck and bell-shaped sleeves worn by the model with a sleek pair of dark jegging trousers. A subsequent outfit that consisted of a faux-fur vest with flame-colored panels, long-sleeved neutral-colored top and pastel-colored capri trousers was a simply divine pairing. This outfit is the epitome of how a warm weather staple such as capri trousers can continue to be worn through the autumn season. Another outfit on display, that entranced me with its representation of casual chic, was a v-neck, striped long t-shirt dress. The pattern of dark, white and bright stripes paired with an orange cardigan was casual cool at its finest. This boutique owner obviously is an expert at selecting garments that demonstrate sportswear and casual wear at its most chic.

I simply loved the apparel displayed by online boutique, Fashion Starved, on the runway. I confess that the garments worn by the models made me want to immediately find out more about what this boutique has to offer. The apparel worn by the models was both charming and edgy. A ruby-colored one-shoulder dress with asymmetrical ruffles from shoulder to bust line and a black panel at the waistline drew chatter and applause from the audience. I too was entranced. This dress will enhance a variety of figure-types from the slim to the curvy. A red, black and cream body-con dress was truly mesmerizing and one of my personal favorites of the evening. The cream at the shoulder line and hemline matched perfectly with the black center panel, black trim at the waistline and the spicy red at the top of the bust line and outer edges of the garment. I was fascinated with the offerings presented by this boutique and believe many of you will be too.
