Many top salons in the St. Louis area are using feathers as hair extensions. This trend has resulted in an increase in business for fly-tackle shops whom supply the feathers. Fly-tackle shops have reported a quickly declining inventory of feathers due to the high demand for them from those in the beauty and fashion industries.

The feather trend may not seem to be an option for individuals whom prefer understated classic hair and clothing styles; however, individuals whom have a preference for classic attire can certainly find plenty of feather accessories in boutiques and department stores to enhance their outfits.

If you are more restrained in your attire but you want to try this trend purchase a single set of clip-on feathers to wear in your hair, a set of earrings or a necklace that has feather embellishment. Make sure feather accessories contain colors that will offset your attire rather than distract from your attire and always keep in mind the setting. Feather hair extensions are best kept out of a traditional workplace but it may be acceptable to wear a feather necklace depending on the company's dress code.
