Rodarte SS15
Are you saying goodbye to skinny jeans? I have read so many
opinions in a variety of online fashion newsletters that shall remain nameless
that I began to wonder if it was really true that the skinny jean is out.
Fashion experts opinions have ranged from the health risk that skinny jeans
cause to the fact that the silhouette of the skinny jean is so passé. I have
such a strong opinion about skinny jeans that I simply had to write about it. I
am going to defend the skinny jean because it is my favorite type of jean. Skinny
jeans are not the perfect match for one and all but they are for me. Besides, there are so many signs that they are alive and thriving. Women have been seen all over the world wearing them. Take a look at the models below wearing skinny jeans. See. I told you they aren't passé.
Paris SS15 Fashion Week
NYFW SS15
My reasons range from how great they look with everything
from heels to flats to the most important one of all: My figure is well-suited
to the skinny jean silhouette. I love the fact that I can roll them up at the
ankle if they are too long or if I want to show off a great pair of heels. I
love how they taper at the ankle and I love that they have natural sex appeal.
While many may have said bon voyage to the skinny jean I
will remain an advocate of them. I feel strongly that regardless of what jeans
style may be in or out it reflects well on you to pick the best silhouette that
suits your figure and personal preferences.
The health risks that they have, in my opinion, are rooted
in wearing skinny jeans that are too tight for one’s figure. I love a great
pair of skinny jeans but won’t end up as an unhealthy statistic because of
them. That is the reason I bend and stride and stroll and sit down and gaze at
myself in a full-length mirror before I commit to a pair. If they seem too
tight when you are in the fitting room or when you order them online and try
them on at home back away from them quickly. That just means they are not fit
for you. Like the ladies below, find the right fit, and you may just fall in love with skinny jeans.
Not all skinny jeans are made alike. Make sure there is
sufficient stretch material in them to make them feel comfortable on you. You
can find a skinny jeans that fits you like a second skin but leaves room to
breathe. This is one reason why I was quite surprised to start reading such vehement
reasons about the reason the skinny jean is yesterday’s news. Those who were
once such strong proponents of my favorite type of jeans suddenly quickly
shunned them.
I can certainly understand why flare-leg jeans are so
popular now. 70s fashion is just in
right now and in a big way. Besides, flare-leg jeans look great on those of a
certain height and weight. I won’t get into the details because you have read
it so many times before I am sure.
Skinny jeans have a history of glamour and I like it! They
were worn by many of the 1950s film stars I love so much. If you read my blog
you probably know who they are; however, they were and still are worn by the
opposite gender, as well. Musicians and film stars alike have been charmed by
the fit of skinny jeans.

Let me just conclude by stating that skinny jeans fit me
like a pair of worn leather gloves or like my oldest black leather jacket. I
have found the denim style that works for me and I am sticking with them.
What is your favorite jeans style? I look forward to your comment so don't be shy.

I will never stop wearing the skinny jean! I love them too much! I don't think they will ever go out of fashion, even if other styles, such as the flare jean, become popular.. the skinny jean will always be the ultimate denim style!

I definitely won't be saying goodbye to skinny jeans anytime soon. They are my all time favorites! I think they are the most flattering and universal. They can be worn with flats or heels (unlike wide leg or flare, that are either too long or too short)

Great pieces here! I have to say distressed denims make up the trending style this season! :) xo~ Lena
ReplyDeletewww.felinecreatures.com
Lena, as usual, you are spot-on. Distressed denim can not be ignored. I don't own a pair myself because they don't fit with my lifestyle. I suppose I could invest in a pair for weekend-wear only but I wear quite a few of my jeans to work with blazers. I am so happy you dropped by for a visit.

Skinny jeans are going nowhere. Especially for the winter. I remember slushing in the snow with my flares & I will NEVER go back. Canadian winters are too long to be worrying about wet jeans. Skinnies look good on me (but I have to admit to searching around a lot for the most flattering fit!) and tuck so well into winter boots. They can be dressy or dressed-down. Flare jeans have nothing on them!! Love this post! Let's keep the skinny jean alive!!

DeleteI loved reading your comment so much. I live in the Midwest in the United States and I feel the same way about flares. They don't work when the snow arrives. You are so awesome.

I have a hate-love relationship with skinny jeans! I find them super comfortable and easy to wear and pair with blouses or blazers for College and classes, but I don't like them to be too too skinny (I can't even walk with these ones!!) so, online shopping is not an option for me. I prefer to go physically to shop for skinny jeans, see if the fabric they're made of is too hard or elastic and see if they fit well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog!

Thanks so much for your comment, Glenda. They are certainly my favorite type of jeans. They work so well with different types of footwear and are so easy to dress up for a night out.

Oh I will forever vote for skinny jeans along with boyfriend jeans. I couldn't imagine wearing anything else. But a comfortable skinny jean. I have worn a couple that I couldnt breathe in.lol Great post :)

Bijuleni
Hi, Eleni:
DeleteIt an be uncomfortable to wear too tight skinny jeans. I invest in those that have at least 2% of a stretch material in them. That way I can squeeze into them if I over eat. I admit I laughed too because I have had those moments.
Sharon
They definitely stand for a fashion statement t that is here to stay! My favorite kinds are distressed :) xo~ Lena
ReplyDeletewww.felinecreatures.com
Hi, Lena:
DeleteI just read another article yesterday about skinny jeans being out. I refuse to stop wearing them. It is all about what works best for the person, in my opinion. Distressed jeans have really been so popular in fashion the past few years. I doubt if they are going anywhere; regardless, of opinions to the contrary.
Sharon
Skinny jeans are my favorites too. Whoever said they were passe is out of their marbles. I am with you Sharon, defenders of the humble skinny jeans. And you did choose some really cool photos to go with this post. xo
ReplyDeleteHi, Elsie:
DeleteThanks for your input about skinny jeans. It seems like everyday I am reading that they are out of style. I say: No way!

Oh no! I hope skinny jeans are still I thing. I feel like the majority of the pants I own are skinny jeans. So if they're out then I'm in trouble. But I can't imagine that no one will never wear a pair of skinny jeans again. I feel like most of my friends own a ton of skinny jeans. So regardless if they are out or not, people are still going to wear them! They seem so versatile with anything!
