Have you noticed how commonly clutch bags are worn with day wear? Once thought of as relatively useless for day wear many women have discovered a way around it. They store their clutch bag in their shoulder or tote bag and at night, voila, the larger bag is stored away and the clutch bag comes out. This has become quite commonplace when going to an after work event such as Happy Hour or a party.

I really like that designers have become even more attune to the quandary that women are faced with when having to serve themselves at a buffet table. More of them are designing clutches with an attachable strap, chain or a hand strap. This, of course, is not necessarily true for many evening clutches. Many of them are still about the size of a small paperback novel. I guess we can’t have everything.

I also like the fact that clutches designed for frequent use have grown in size. No more the size of the reticules carried during the Victorian era some of the clutches of today are a decent enough size that women can fit more than a tube of lipstick, keys,  a small cell phone and money in them. There may even be enough room to stash a compact, depending on the size of the clutch.

I am also excited about the print clutch bags that contain text and images. These charming clutches have been spotted everywhere. There is a certain fun factor that these type of prints add to a clutch. They effortlessly add zest to a basic outfit. The printed versions look fabulous with everything from sundresses to the mid-length skirts that are so in right now. Clutches shaped in the form of animals or objects can also add whimsy to an outfit if you are into that sort of thing. Pair them with a white button-down shirt and jeans and hear the compliments commence.

If you are not into whimsical clutches then why not add a bold-colored clutch to your daytime ensemble? It might even make you feel a touch better if you are having a bad morning. It's worked for me.
